2006 - Two failed IVF

August 2006 - Attend International Adoption seminar

October 2006 - Attend International/Domestic Adoption seminar

May 2007 - Secure financing for adoption

June 2007 - apply for Guatamalan adoption

July 2007 - decided to put adoption plans on hold

February 2008 - Attend Domestic Adoption seminar-told we were too old.

January 15, 2009 - One more adoption seminar. This time it's the right one and the right time!

February 2009 - Finish application paper work

March 13, 2009 - First Home Study interview

March 27, 2009 - Second Home Study interview

April 13, 2009 - Home visit

May 13, 2009 - Home Study approved

WAITING

February 2010 - Thinking about changing agencies

March 2010 - Hire Adoption Attorney

June 2010 - failed adoption placement

October 28, 2010 - matched with a birth mother!

November 29, 2010 - ultrasound says baby is a boy.

January 13, 2011 - Baby's Birth Mother informs us she has decided not to go through with the adoption.

February 28, 2011 - Received call from our Virginia agency that a birth mother wants to meet us. Fingers crossed!

March 7, 2011 - Met with Birth Mother. She wants to place her baby boy with us! He is due March 23. Not much time to get ready, but we are so thankful.

March 30, 2011 - Baby Boy is born at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA.

April 1, 2011 - Baby Boy comes home with us as a foster placement.

April 12, 2011 - We sign the official adoption agreement with the adoption agency. In six month's time we will be able to petition the courts to make the adoption permanent.

June 14 and August 17, 2011 - 2nd and 3rd post-placement visits with CHSVA.

October 1, 2011 - Informed by our agency that now is the time to start the legal paperwork to make our adoption permanent.

May 2, 2012 - Our adoption of Richard is finalized.
